Here's part II of Liyil's story animated. I must say, I have an all new appreciation for directors who attempt to translate books into film. Sometimes the written word just doesn't translate well on the screen, so you need to deviate from the writing in order to have something visually decent. Or you just need to realize that you kinda suck at machinima and have a lot to learn Anyhow, enjoy. Here's the youtube link if you want something larger than the embedding: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuvcaHOwQpoAnd here's the link if you want to read Liyil's story: indelibles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=intros&action=display&thread=94

Great stuff Liyil! I laud your ambition. I'm afraid that I look at something like this ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWgW3ogaV84 ) and just lose all heart to tackle a project like this, simply because I know how much work goes into learning all the tools. Occasionally, I remind myself that Blind (and probably some of the others that both inspire and defeat me) were produced by professionals, but still.... I imagine I won't be straying too far from my Microsoft Paint anytime soon. :} Have you toyed with the idea of using subtitles or even voice acting in any of your future works?

That's really funny. It was Blind that inspired me to try this in the first place. It's too bad Percula has decided not to do another one. That really is the Machinima to end all Machinima. Still, it gives something for us amateurs to strive after. As for subtitles and voice acting... I've watched a bunch of WoW animation, and always found the ones with voice acting to be a little corny. I think it's just difficult to sync voice acting well with the limited range of emote options available to non-professionals in WoW Model Viewer. So I've opted for the silent movie genre. The subtitles are in Liyil's intro story Thanks so much for the feedback, Xelas!

You're welcome! Thank you for bringing so much creativity to us!
I must admit that the bulk of the things I've seen that have been voice acted are comedies, which I imagine puts us in the mind to be more forgiving of the limitations of syncing WoW animations with voice-overs.
I suppose an analogy to what you're doing is similar to music videos, where they are sometimes telling a completely different story than the actual lyrics of the song. In those cases, they have to tell the story without benefit of anything other than the images of the scenes themselves.
