Prologue
Thaedon’s mother died birthing twins. His father, a simple merchant before the tragedy, thanked the blessed Naaru for saving his two sons. Thinking that Naaru chose to save his sons for a reason, Thaedon’s father devoted much of his time teaching his children the principles of the Holy Light. Though Thaedon and Thaedan were twins, Thaedon was very different from his brother. Where Thaedon was born of ivory skin, Thaedan’s skin was darker. Even as a child, he had the makings of a spirited, strong willed individual. It came of no surprise when Thaedon devoured every word of his father’s teachings. Unfortunately, Thaedan displayed no such interests and was quickly overlooked by the father, fostering a great glacier. The growing tension between Thaedon’s brother and father wrought anguish upon Thaedon’s senses for he loved both dearly. No matter how much he tried to get the two to reconcile, the glacier between the two only seemed to thicken and expand.
As an almost full grown man, Thaedon had an easy laid back manner – a soft gentle smile matched with a light, carefree laugh. By now, Thaedon was the son his father had always dreamed for. Thaedon knew his very existence, his destiny, was to join the Army of Light and fight against the Burning Legion that had threatened their race for so many centuries. Although, his father had bred a sense of self and duty inside of Thaedon, and wished him to be a mighty warrior, Thaedon secretly did not have the stomach for battle. But because they were in times of war, his pride, duty, and honor would not allow him to succumb to selfish desires. Often times, he dreamed of a period in his life where he would be able to sit on a porch, reading a book of his fancy, in peace and quiet without thoughts of battle and bloodshed always breeching the surface of his consciousness. For his family and for his people, he would be all that he could be and more.
When the Prophet Velen issued a plan to raid and capture Exodar, Thaedon was among the first to offer his assistance. However, his father had strictly forbidden him to enter in the heat of combat, claiming him to be too young to fight. Fuming with anger, Thaedon disobeyed his father’s orders anyways. That was the last he would see of his father and brother. In the midst of the chaos of battle and victory, Thaedon was sought out by a recruit and did not have the time to return to his family. When the Exodar crashed, his brother and father were numbered among the dead.
Thaedon would awake from the crash to a world in shatters.
