Situations were getting a little too out of control for Vestiger's liking. He kept finding himself pushing farther and farther outside of his own comfort zone.
First it was hiring out his blade for money. This was fine when it just came to scouting and infantry work, his time spent with the Silverwing Sentinels wasn't much different. But, now he was plying his trade in back alleys and behind closed doors. He tried to tell himself that the battlefield doesn't have boundaries, but it was an obvious excuse that didn't do much to ease his conscious.
"Dammit Amkor. Where is that arrogant swine?" he cursed under his breath.
His contempt for his employer made him angry at himself. Ever since he had spied on the meeting he had with Kotaiso, Turudes and their naive lackey Sarania he knew he should walk away from all of it. He hadn't though, and he knew he wouldn't. Too much of the meeting had been missed for him to know exactly what was going on, but what he did know made him very uneasy.
To make matters worse the bastard, Kotaiso, almost caught him spying that night. He wasn't sure if he had seen enough to allow him to recognize who it was doing the spying. If he had it was probably too late to run anyway. Better to stay close and learn the nature of the storm on the horizon. At least then he might have a chance to do something about it.
"Vestiger, I trust you have my money" he heard behind him.
Vestiger turned slowly, trying to keep the shock of having someone get the drop on him off his face.
"Your product is worthless Shaman, none are buying. I can, however, pay you back with some information."
Amkor snapped his fingers, sending a spark into the air for him to light his cigarette from. He was fond of flashy tricks which he used often to emphasize what he was about to say.
"This had better be good..."
