((a start of kaleighs history/story))
A soft breeze passes by, as the smoke ridden earth lay in ruins. The soft mournful cries filled the air as those who survived rummaged through the aftermath. I stood there cold as death, staring out at what little remained of my home and family. Tears begin to stream down my face as I see their corpses strewn across the blood stained ground. The screams and images of the horrors that just occurred raced through my mind, tormenting my every being. In that brief moment as I remained transfixed in a lifeless daze, a hatred in its purist form consumed me of my innocence. A hand unexpectedly grabbed my shoulders pulling me out of my daze. I turn only to be staring at the rough, revolting face of my enemy and in one swift jolt I was sitting upright with my hands tightly gripping my daggers. Wiping the sweat off my brow, I get out of bed and quietly get dressed. I continue to think back to that day which still haunts me regularly in my dreams. That day, my rebirth, for the person who I was before then has long since died and all that remains are the faded memories of a time that once was.
Nine years have passed by since that day and yet these dreams haunt me continuously. Some may say it is the punishment bestowed upon me for the path I chose in other words; Elune’s way of conveying her anger towards me. I laugh at such ideals held by my kin and their deity. Personally, I believe it is a reminder for the goal, although on hold, I must achieve. Revenge. So I endure these dreams willingly and believe that death or success will free me from them. I turn to the window seeing the night sky as the moon glistens above. I let myself fall back lost in thoughts. It wasn’t always like this, revenge, hatred, cold, empty. There was a time when things were better, a time which seems so long ago….
